We received the original charter from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on January 31, 1887 In 1956, we expanded outside of Wakefield to serve people in one of the surrounding towns. The bank opened a branch on Main Street in Lynnfield. For over one hundred years, we have concentrated on building a solid financial institution responsive to the need of the people in our area. Customer confidence and support have enabled us to remain a strong, independent organization. Today, residents and local businesses have over $90,000,000 on deposit at the bank. The bank remains committed to its time-honored tradition of making significant contributions to the community. As we continue to grow, we will reinvest even more money in our communities in the form of mortgages and consumer loans. The bank has recognized the importance of home-ownership by participating in various government funded programs which enables it to provide low-cost and competitive mortgage loans. One constant over the years has been and continues to be our goal of providing quality service to all Wakefield Co-operative Bank customers. Convenience plays a major role in this regard. We currently have two branches, with ATM facilities available at both locations. We are also a member of the SUM ATM network and offer VISA check cards, enabling our customers to use an extensive network of bank ATMs without surcharge or make purchases at any VISA location. We offer Co-op Connection, 24-hour telephone banking. This service provides customers 24-hour access to their loan and deposit account information. Our commitment goes beyond traditional banking roles. Our employees and directors volunteer their time and energy to many civic and socials groups in the area. It's this total dedication that distinguishes Wakefield Co-operative Bank as a community bank. |
